Marriages are never easy and it must be particularly hard for celebrity couples who are constantly in the public eye. We are always hearing of celebrity marriages failing after just a few years of marriage. It would seem that many stars don’t work hard enough at their marriages and are more likely to throw in the towel when things get hard, than non-famous folk. But the Beckhams are different. After almost ten years of marriage, they are as devoted and loving to each other as they were in the beginning.

Tough times
Things haven’t always been easy though, and like most couples they have been through some tough times. Since their marriage on 4 July 1999, things have been sent to test the happy couple but the strength of their relationship means they always pull through, always putting their marriage and family before anything or anyone else.

Plots to Kidnap Victoria
In January 2000, a plot was exposed to kidnap Victoria and Brooklyn Beckham and hold them hostage at a house in North London, and then later that year Victoria received a death threat prior to her Brit Awards performance with the Spice Girls. In 2002 five people were arrested over a plot to kidnap Victoria. This would be enough to put any relationship under strain, but it just brought them closer.

Biggest test
The biggest test of their relationship came when David moved to Spain to play for Real Madrid and there were allegations that he had an affair with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos. In an attempt to quash these rumours and to save her marriage, Victoria moved to Madrid to join David. She was adamant that their relationship would survive and said at the time, “We have been through a lot worse than this.” And in 2006 when asked about their relationship she said, “I think we are a very strong family. We love each other to pieces. You work things out if you really love someone.” Victoria has since said that David’s supposed affair has made their marriage stronger.
